My Story: Damaris
Hi there! I’m Damaris, and if there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s that life’s twists and turns can lead you exactly where you need to be. I am an indoor cycling instructor, a passionate entrepreneur, and a long-time Human Resources professional dedicated to fostering well-being and community.
My professional life began in Human Resources in 2012, eventually leading to a Director role. This extensive background has given me a deep understanding of people, organizational dynamics, and the power of creating supportive environments.
However, my path has also been profoundly shaped by my personal health journey. Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder (Type 2), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Diabetes, and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), I’ve learned that movement—particularly group fitness classes—is a powerful tool in managing complex diagnoses. It has been my anchor through it all.
A Passion for Movement & Education
In 2024, I took a leap of faith and founded Chivo Cycle, my own indoor cycling studio. This was a direct result of my passion for movement, which I’ve dedicated myself to pursuing with formal training and certifications. I am Matrix INDOOR CYCLING CERTIFIED instructor and have trained with Kristina Girod’s “the method,” honing my skills to deliver an exceptional cycling experience. My approach is rooted in continuing education, and I’ve earned several NASM-credited trainings, including Practical Pilates, Pilates Remix, and Burn Barre.
I am constantly seeking to grow and bring new inspiration to my clients. This passion for learning will take me to Mexico this October for a Spanish-language training, with another training scheduled for September. This commitment ensures I am always at the forefront of the fitness industry.
The Power of Connection
My academic journey is just as diverse, with a BA in Anthropology, minors in Art History, Spanish, and Latin American Studies from the University of Arkansas, and an MBA in International Business. These experiences, combined with my roles as a wife and stepmom, fuel my belief in the power of connection and community.
I share my story because I believe in authenticity. We all face battles, and knowing that movement and community can be a source of strength is a message I’m committed to amplifying. Welcome to my world!
